Responsible for DBA support for Prod SQL Servers Transactional Replication SQL Server Partitioning Always ON Support/troubleshooting Performance tuning/ DR capabilities Hands On Production Support /Housekeeping Database Security On call/Coverage etc. DBA Responsibilities Stand Alone Installation, configuration Maintain SQL Server Indexes, Statistics Establish and follow backup and recovery policies and procedures Maintenance and monitoring of SQL Agent Jobs in Production Enforce and monitor implement configurations standards Basic Database tuning and performance monitoring Restore Steps of all Production and Non-Production database environments Basic Always on Architecture and how to failover and fall back and troubleshooting steps Capacity planning for disks, CPU, memory, etc Manage and monitor indexes, .mdf files, .ldf files Move database files between LUNS to properly manage disk capacity as it relates to performance and physical space constraints across all environments Provide 24x7 on-call production support Work with the database development team to ensure proper naming conventions, efficient stored procedures and database designs are followed Meet with application client teams to review worst performing queries / code for continual improvement Monitor SQL and Windows Error Logs Clear all Warnings and Errors Create proactive processes to prevent recurring issues Monitor SCOM and Idera Alerts Assist the Dev Team with administration and proper configuration of production BI environments Other tasks Works on daily data related tickets o Create script and test in non-production environment o Work with deployment manager to promote to production o Update data in production through deployment process Track all repetitive data update requests o Automate repetitive tasks as a temporary stop-gap o Formulate a change log request to fix / enhance the application for repetitive tasks Assists the database developer as needed - provided by Dice
