The successful candidate will be passionate about solving complex technical problems, have exceptional analytical and troubleshooting skills, and a desire to improve systems and processes within engineering. You will tackle a range of complex software and system issues, including monitoring of a large farm of servers in multiple geographic locations, responding to and safeguarding the availability and reliability of the Foundation platform.ResponsibilitiesEnsure that the foundation systems meet all SLAs at all timesParticipate in design discussionsAutomate everyday tasks by providing scalable, elegant, and maintainable solutionsResearch and assess the suitability of new technologies Troubleshoot and assess application behavior and suggest improvementsMaintain and extend to the next level our custom monitoring systemWork with developers on performance analysis and capacity planningHave funQualificationsEssential SkillsIn depth expertise in Linux internals and system administration including configuration and troubleshootingHands on experience with performance tuning of the Linux OS and Java VMs, in identifying bottlenecks such as disk I/O, memory, CPU, network issuesGood understanding of databases, file system and drives with emphasis on I/O issuesAbility to analyze network behavior, performance and application issues using standard toolsExperience in software development in at least one of these scripting languages; Ruby, Perl, PythonBuild and support analysis tools for our infrastructureHands on experience in configuration management of computing grids (using tools such as mcollective, Puppet, Cfengine, Chef etc.)Ability to design and implement small to moderate sized toolsHands on experience with open source monitoring and graphing solutions such as Nagios, Graphite and MuninDesirable skillsStrong scripting skillsAdministering Java applications (tuning, GC, memory)Experience with application containerization technologies, e.g. Docker and KubernetesExperience in working with large scale software deployments, especially distributed systemsBenefits Work at our fantastic new headquarters building.An internationally diverse, sociable, dynamic team to work alongside.Conferences (attending and/or speaking) and learning resources.Company-wide tech talks with internal and external speakers, and a calendar of tech meetups hosted on the premises.
