Job Description
Role Summary
As the Data Steward for the CIGNA Information Management & Analytics team, you will partner with business teams, IT system resources, and architecture to create and execute an enterprise wide information governance strategy for CIGNA. You will be responsible for the business aspects of data management for CIGNA. You must interface with many cross-functional groups and bring clarity on the data integration approach between them. You will be responsible for many aspects of information governance including maintaining data quality; data definition and usage; standards; data security, privacy, and retention requirements; and business data deployment to operations and to projects and programs within the SDLC.
Responsibilities
* Leads in the development and deployment of master data management activities for the subject area(s) responsible for by incorporating the business applications, information management methods, and data management tools to implement the policies, procedures, infrastructure that support the capture, integration, and subsequent shared use of accurate, timely, consistent and complete, unified view of critical information.
* Key participant in execution of the development, implementation and enforcement of best-practices for data quality, data governance, and processes.
* Provide business direction to support development and maintenance of a data governance program and ensure efficient and accurate flows of data across business processes, business rules, systems and operations.
* Tasks and deliverables to be included in project/program SDLC.
* Work across functional teams and across multiple systems to establish and maintain data definitions and data structures with linkage to business process and rules, to provide one consistent view of the data that is aligned with cross-functional business processes.
* Profile key business data. Improve data quality reporting and management processes to proactively monitor data processes, identify and resolve problems at multiple points in the process.
* Create and communicate metrics to gauge the health and quality of key master data across the enterprise systems.
* Develop data quality audit criteria, in addition to conducting and reporting on audit
results with operations.
* Partner with the respective Business Process/Data Owner and IT systems owners to implement governance and data quality. SDLC accountability.
* Identify and present recommendations about business process improvements and efficiencies, including business case and high-level approach.
* Manage and participate in cross-functional teams assigned to large enterprise data optimization challenges.
* Assist integration teams with data related aspects of acquisition integrations.
* Work with multiple types of Master Data, including Customer, Client & Product, Provider, Claim, Finance, Clinical, and Producer & Sales data.
* Works with fellow members of the Enterprise Data Management team (Project Managers, Data Stewards) on business and IT related data improvement projects.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree required and/or equivalent work experience. Six Sigma training / certification desirable.
* In depth knowledge of health care business processes required.
* 5-7 years of healthcare industry experience required
* Ability to coordinate with diverse matrix groups and provide outstanding customer service. *Team player with proven ability to foster and manage working relationships within a matrix environment.
* Ability to work with all levels of management to influence and support development of recommendations that are cost effective and productive.
* Excellent interpersonal, consulting, and relationship management skills.
* Superior written and verbal communication skills to clearly document and communicate business requirements and methodologies.
* Strong organization skills with ability to multi-task and manage multiple mission-critical projects and priorities simultaneously.
