Responsibilities
The Finance Roadmap project is the #1 Finance project priority and investment for the Enterprise in 2010 and beyond. Completion of projects within the scope of the Roadmap is critical not only to the direction of the Finance organization, but also to the efficiency and operating effectiveness of the Enterprise as a whole. Leadership exposure is high, given the operating structure of this project. Solid project management skills and the ability to deliver results while minimizing disruption to the baseline operations is critical. Ability to communicate for impact is of equal importance, as occasional Steering Committee updates will be required.


Represents CIGNA Finance and all business partners on the Finance Roadmap initiative. Project is large and complex in scope. This role requires a unique combination of organizational, business, process and systems understanding, as well as a strong set of leadership competencies. Key competencies needed are communication, matrix management, senior leadership presence and strategic thinking. This role may partner with an external consultant and will be asked to deliver within tight timeframes.

- This role requires a strong understanding of accounting and financial transactions and workflows throughout the Enterprise, as well as strategic thinking to drive end to end process improvements, standardization, and efficiency. Role must be filled with a candidate who is an agent for change with a proven track record of accurate and timely delivery. Role demands superior matrix management skills and candidate must be able to effectively communicate to all levels in the organization via multiple channels.

- Manage and/or deliver upon all aspects of a project plan and associated deliverables:
- Manage project resources, as needed.
- Drive business process changes within project scope through timely delivery of business requirements.
- Review systems design and requirements in conjunction with the project plan.
- Develop test cases and scenarios as needed.
- Partner effectively with IT for timely and seamless delivery of requirements.
- Manage or support implementation and post implementation activities.
- Fulfill program requirements through partnership and compliance with PMO processes.

- Ability to independently manage and execute project tasks. Meets project deadlines and deliverables with a high degree of completeness and accuracy. Identifies project delivery risks and develops/coordinates contingency plans.

- Ability to understand, document, summarize, and articulate current processes and process gaps.

- Ability to identify potential solutions and evaluate them based on cultural, process, technological and organizational considerations.

- Ability to make recommendations that are in line with our company strategy, the project charter, Senior Leadership needs, and either maintain or enhance our internal control environment.

- Ability to operate in a fast-based environment with multiple business, IT and matrix partners. Ability to drive progress and maintain momentum on large-scale initiatives.
Qualifications
Experience Required:

- Bachelors degree in Finance, Business, Management, Information Systems, Accounting, Organization Management or related disciplines and at least eight, typically ten years of solid, diverse work experience in Finance or Operations.
- Knowledge of CIGNA Healthcare or Group Insurance financial processes or systems.
- Knowledge of CIGNA products and services.
- Superior strategic thinking skills and end-to-end impact/solution mind-set.
- Superior communication skills and ability to interact with all levels in the organization.
- Strong influencing and negotiation skills.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- Independent and quick learner.
