Role Summary
Responsible for the more complex activities associated with maintaining ledger accounts and for developing financial statements and reports. Responsible for analysis and interpretation of financial information. Utilizes independent judgment and discretion to identify trends, variances, and key issues and provides recommendations for adjustment. Responsible for conducting moderate to complex financial analysis projects and/or reporting. May conduct audits to ensure financial controls are maintained. Job may provide functional advice or training to less experienced accountant jobs. Typically has a bachelor's degree in accounting and four to six years of significant experience.
Responsibilities
* Responsible for recording GAAP and statutory results for security investments, including detailed coordination with external service providers and internal accounting team.
* Responsible for ensuring that CIGNA's real estate investments are recorded in accordance with legal agreements and GAAP and statutory policies and practices by reviewing and analyzing investment financial statements and recording CIGNA's results. Maintains an in-depth working knowledge of the investment deal structures and accounting issues to support accurate net investment income plan and projection reporting and mock liquidation values.
* Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting and financial activity reports and related schedules in support of GAAP, STAT, tax and management reporting and customer requests in established time frames.
* Evaluate process improvement opportunities and actively prioritize and drive efforts to maximize results.
* Demonstrate personal accountability for the results of the entire team and organization.
* Develop, maintain and document controls as needed to ensure reporting accuracy and ongoing review by internal and external parties.
Qualifications
* BS degree in Accounting
* Minimum of 4 years of accounting, with solid knowledge of GAAP
* Investment knowledge is highly desirable
* Strong verbal and written communication skills
* Strong analytical skills to interpret and evaluate financial results
* Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-task environment with tight deadlines
* Ability to work independently and as a team player
* Motivated, proactive self-starter who takes ownership and is results oriented
* Strong computer skills
