POSITION SUMMARY: The Medical Director is responsible of overseeing every chart that goes through the MD-Review Tower. This involves reviewing the medical chart with the Coding DRG Auditor, to facilitate the accurate representation of a patient's clinical status that was translated into coded data by the coders. The Medical Director is responsible of capturing the true clinical picture in a compliance matter with federal laws, and the healthcare organizations information privacy practices. The Medical Director will work with the Coding DRG Auditor to confirm the principle diagnosis of every case, and confirm the appropriate Diagnosis Related Group, in compliance with coding guidelines. This process involves the Medical Director confirming; procedures, dates, complication or co-morbidity (CC) or a major complication or co-morbidity (MCC) when used as a secondary diagnosis. The Medical Director has to confirm the presence of the correct and true clinical indicators for coded diagnosis, and help ensure that the medical record accurately captures the patients condition, ensuring that the severity of illness and risk of mortality is accurate for the patient. PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: The MD has to maintain a functional and collaborative relationship with coach auditor to achieve shared company goals. The MD will assure compliance with medical and federal guidelines at all time. The MD is responsible to stay up-to-date with medical guidelines, and advancements within his or her field. The MD is responsible for the quality of his/her towers work. This requires developing and implementing strategic goals related to the quality improvement within the tower The MD is responsible for queries that are generated from the towers. The MD has to work with the Clinical Documentation Improvement team to confirm the clinical indicators for every query that is generated. Each query must meet all regulatory and reporting requirements. The MD will work with the analytic team to understand the patterns that are developed from every towers production, to provide development guidance for the tower. The MD is responsible to work with organization senior management and compliance officer to adhere to organizational goals and mission. The MD is responsible to preform periodic compliance monitoring within the tower The MD is responsible in the corporate educational activities.
