Position Summary: Your Contribution at AIG
This role will report to the President and CEO of L&R Funds/ SAAMCO. The successful candidate will be a proven senior professional with strong experience bringing together the product needs of the market place with our investment capabilities. The Head of Product will need a sophisticated understanding of investing, covering the key asset categories, and a proven ability to identify product trends and to design the appropriate products to meet investor demands. They will be responsible for ensuring the product development and product management processes successfully deliver good customer outcomes leading to beneficial commercial results. They should have a deep understanding of strategy and business development processes, practices and applications, as well as the operational and regulatory frameworks as they pertain to products.
The main areas of responsibility are:
Asset Class Product Management
Responsible for working the investment team and the distribution teams to determine the appropriate 3-5 year product strategy outlining which new investment capabilities are required to meet the needs of the marketplace
Responsible for working with colleagues to produce a product development plan to implement the product strategy in a way which demonstrates clear client, competitor positioning, commercial and channel strategic fit.
Fund Product Management
Produce a product development plan (including use of seed capital requirement, pricing, etc.) to implement the fund/vehicle strategy in a way which demonstrate clear client, competitor positioning, commercial merit and pathway to financial profitability
Ensure robust product management of the existing range of funds/vehicles so that they continue to meet clients needs, deliver reasonable commercial outcomes and maintain high levels of integrity
Ensure Product strategy is consistent with current and future demand trends in channels that the firm seeks to serve and that product development priorities are aligned to business strategy in each channel
Implement Product Management rationalization processes and review that focus on ensuring that existing investment strategies and funds/vehicles remain fit for purpose
Fund Board Management
Develop strong relationships with 3 mutual fund/variable annuity boards to facilitate new product approvals, fund changes/enhancements and advisory contracts
Lead participant in annual 15c process in coordination with legal team
Investment & Product Content
Consistently develop and maintain robust Research & Development pipeline
In coordination with Marketing, create top quality content ensuring products are delivered to market in a way that is compelling, relevant and differentiated
Product Range Management & General Management
Chair of Product Review Committee across Life & Retirement business
Responsible for ensuring that coordinated management takes place across all geographies, channels, asset classes and vehicles/funds, pricing and structure
Oversee a significant amount of governance, communication, budgeting and planning that is required to ensure that the Group operates efficiently
Our Ideal Candidate
Minimum 15 years of experience in Senior Product Level roles
Strategic thinking, planning, and execution capabilities
Deep knowledge of investing, covering key asset categories and a proven ability to identify product trends and to design the appropriate products to meet investor demands
Knowledge and involvement in ETF products/markets a plus
Sound knowledge of the operational and regulatory frameworks as they pertain to product infrastructure
Highly developed, leadership levels and emotional intelligence (EQ) including interpersonal skills, influencing and relationship management capabilities
Proven capability to contribute to delivering excellent client outcomes and thereby growing businesses
An ability to develop, influence and work within a matrixed global structure across relationship management, marketing, product, investment, operations, legal and compliance etc.
A track record of building, coaching and managing high performance teams
Sound business judgment and commercial acumen
Resilient, results driven and high attention to detail
Project and program management
Has successfully led teams through significant organizational change
Bachelor s degree (Master s preferred)
Ability to build instant credibility and gain trust with internal and external stakeholders, including senior leaders at key institutional and intermediary client organizations. Including the senior most levels of AIG
Demonstrated knowledge of various securities markets
Ability to build effective working relationships and work collaboratively across AIG
Willingness to take on additional operational responsibilities as needed
Bachelor's Degree (Master's preferred)
