The Business Operations Lead-Globalization is responsible for supporting the President, North America B2B and the executive team of Alibaba.com. Alibaba.com is experiencing triple digit growth and an expansion of our services globally. We are having fun, serving small businesses and digitizing global B2B commerce. As the original business of Alibaba Group we have successfully moved from being a directory of suppliers to a global end-to-end B2B procurement system. In this role, you'll be responsible for travel to global meetings, participate in meetings, follow-up with operational deliverables, generate presentations, organize business development activities, do some recruiting, provide translation and oversee the weekly updates of operational executives in US & China and flag important items for follow-up. This is a role that requires exceptional organizational skills, interpersonal skills (high EQ is a must), a good sense of humor and interest in being on a team of entrepreneurs that is making an impact. There is an intensity to this role - the travel is a lot, the hours can be long, but the work is rewarding and the team is fun.
This position requires data driven strategic creativity, a bias for action, a commitment to being customer first, a passion for Small and Medium Sized businesses, and appetite for 'healthy disruption'. You must have the capability and desire to be an inspirational team member across multiple geographies - including in San Mateo, New York City and our Hangzhou, China headquarters. The successful candidate has strong relationship management skills, serve the customer orientation, powerful written communication and story-telling skills and a can-do attitude that resonates and inspires his/her partners and teammates. A strong foundation in rigorous metrics is required.
Your responsibilities will include:
1.Participate in executive discussions
2.Understanding business goals, synthesizing market data and research, and delivering and operationalizing well-scoped strategic plans
3.Influencing a cross-departmental team of senior practitioners to build and update a portfolio of international B2B programs, products, services in the US and around the world
4.Establishing cross-border relationships with an international operating team (primarily based in Hangzhou, China), engendering trust via strategic transparency, exemplary performance, and a committed focus on delivering strategically-significant results
5.Communicating goals and plans clearly and effectively, eliciting useful feedback, building enthusiasm, and getting agreement from partners distributed across multiple organizations
