Within AR, the Robotic Operations Management and Simulation Team defines and builds tools to design and simulate new robotic solutions and to manage active robotic environments for safety, equipment effectivity and maintenance. We are Amazon Robotics and we will give you the tools and support you need to invent with us in ways that are rewarding, fulfilling and fun.Job OverviewAs a Senior Data Scientist, you work closely with other research scientists, machine learning experts, and business experts to design and run experiments, research new algorithms, and find new ways to improve Amazons robotic solutions. The Scientist will partner with technology and product leaders to solve business and technology problems using scientific approaches to build new services that surprise and delight our customers. Science at Amazon is a highly experimental activity, although theoretical analysis and innovation are also welcome. Our scientists work closely with software engineers to put algorithms into practice. They also work on cross-disciplinary efforts with other scientists within Amazon. You will have a significant role in developing others.The key strategic objectives for this role include: Understanding drivers, impacts, and key influences on robotic automation dynamics. Drive actions at scale to improve the efficiency, reliability and predictability of robotic automation solutions using scientifically-based methods and decision making. Helping to build production systems that take inputs from multiple models and make decisions in real time. Automating feedback loops for algorithms in production. Utilizing Amazon systems and tools to effectively work with petabytes of data.Basic qualifications Demonstrated experience building and applying Machine Learning and analytic solutions to strategic business problems. Demonstrated thought-leadership with a passion for translating data into action and business insights. The candidate must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and good management and leadership experience in applying quantitative solutions. Must have demonstrated ability to explain analytical techniques and strategies to non-scientist audience is necessary. Coding or Scripting skills (e.g., R/Python) MS in Statistics, Applied Math, Operations Research, Economics, or a related quantitative field and 4 years experience or BS and 8 years experience.Preferred qualification Advance degree (PhD) in Computer Science, Applied Math or a related field Advanced knowledge of big data analytics technologies Knowledge of cloud computing and AWS services Skills with Java, C++ or other high-level programming language, as well as MATLAB or similar scripting language.
