Job Description

The Insurance Verification Clerk is responsible for validating and entering patient information and insurance coverage into the appropriate computer system. Duties may also include communicating with physician offices, insurance carriers, and patient follow-ups. 

•Contacts all insurance carriers per patient, to insure proper coordination and reimbursement of benefits.
•Breaks down managed care contract reimbursements and estimates patient(s) financial responsibilities.
•Works closely with physician offices and patients to provide accurate patient financial responsibilities and to ensure scheduled procedures/admissions have proper pre-authorization.
•Interacts appropriately and effectively with all patient/others regardless of age or ethnic background.

Required Skills
  •  High school diploma or GED certification
  •  Great attitude
  •  Proficient typing/ keyboarding skills
  •  Strong knowledge and understanding of Medicare, Managed Care, HMO/PPO plans and authorization/ referral requirements
  • Required Experience

     1 Year of medical insurance verification REQUIRED
