This is a senior level position reporting to our Valuation Lead in our Risk Control Department. This individual will be supporting BHSI's property insurance underwriters globally with replacement cost valuation needs specific to Machinery & Equipment in the industrial and energy sectors. Valuation insight allows us to know our risks, profitably price our insurance premiums and identify competitive business advantages where our view differs from the market. This role can be based out of our New York, Houston, or Toronto office locations.

Essential Job Functions:

* Conduct research, perform analysis and develop mathematical models for replacement cost valuation of various types of heavy industrial Machinery & Equipment
* Leverage in-house expertise to help build, integrate and incorporate proprietary valuation tools into current internal platforms
* As part of a risk management function, perform desktop and field level valuation reviews to report on the reasonableness of BHSI customer's reported Machinery & Equipment asset values
* Preparation of valuation reports with observations on customer's asset values, BHSI's internal value estimates and communication thereof to BHSI account stakeholders and senior leadership on high-profile accounts
* Participate in customer communication as BHSI's subject matter expert in Machinery & Equipment replacement cost valuation
* Develop and present training to foster development of internal valuation knowledge and resources
* Assist in developing internal valuation processes, procedures and reporting documentation as part of a growing valuation practice


* A BS/BA degree or higher
* Minimum 10 yrs of experience in M&E valuation
* Knowledge of major / critical pieces of industrial equipment including, but not limited to: compressors, turbines, large motors, major vessels, tankage and piping systems, boilers, etc.
* Comprehensive understanding of valuation approaches
* Ability to conduct in-depth industry valuation research
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as strong team building, interpersonal and communication skills (both written and oral)
* Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
* Some travel required (15 - 20%)


* Certification in Machinery & Equipment Appraisal
* Insurance industry experience
* International valuation experience
* Advanced Excel modelling skills
