Biena’s Product Development & Quality Manager is a unique role for a unique individual. In this role, you will manage and execute both the product quality and product development activities of the business. You will spend ~50% of your time working on commercializing new and innovative products and launching line extensions. The other ~50% of your time will be spent working directly with our network of contract manufacturing partners, driving product quality and consistency into the marketplace. This position requires a highly motivated individual with strong product development and quality capabilities, interpersonal skills, and the ability to partner with internal and external stakeholders. Ideal candidates will have a strong track record of developing products from concept to commercialization and driving quality programs within a high growth CPG / Food & Bev company. This leader will be a key member of Biena’s operations team and will report directly to the VP of Operations. LOCATION: Boston, MA PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:   Drive Product Development by: Translating concepts to development and commercialization of products that support the formulation and development of new products, line extensions, and quality improvements Developing formulations and specifications that meet the appropriate nutritional, regulatory and consumer requirements Creating schedules that are required to meet project timelines Working with co-manufacturers to understand processing capabilities and limitations, and partnering with them to successfully scale up our products Developing robust product testing plans pre-launch to understand shelf life performance and integrity of our products to yield telling results within tight timelines. Maintain detailed knowledge and understanding of consumer and customer needs, competitors and food industry trends. Mine data and consumer insights in order to keep innovations consumer-grounded and to ensure high profit potential for items. Manage post-launch requirements, including product enhancements and optimizations as needed. Manage the budget for innovation platform development and new item launch support.   Drive Product Quality to the highest levels by: Working with our contract manufacturing partners to track and analyze vendor quality data, set new standards for quality and formulate the plans needed to achieve them. Creating quality plans and systems that will deliver products of the highest quality at the lowest cost. Analyzing quality related consumer complaints, putting corrective actions in place as necessary. Providing follow-up actions for any necessary corrective and preventive actions. Driving batch/ lot release activities and manage Biena’s recall plan. Partnering with Sourcing team to assist with supplier qualification process. SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: 5+ years of experience in Product Development and/or Quality function at a fast growing, Consumer Products company(s). Understanding domestic food regulations (21CFR) and certification bodies (BRC, SQF, etc.). Ability to project manage multiple projects simultaneously with unwavering attention to detail.
