TSG is building next generation scalable, efficient data center as a service using the latest innovation infrastructure. Building on top of the cloud deployments in BNY Mellon, we are aggressively automating and bridging the green field cloud with the existing virtual computing environments.
The ideal candidate will be working as a member or the Mainframe Storage Team. They will have opportunities to learn and build skills on the latest Storage technology while developing/implementing upgrades & solutions. The Team runs smoothly and stays proactive to ensure the least amount of storage related issues occur. Primary responsibilities are Run the Business tasks by utilizing Storage tool to monitoring DASD pools, initializing volumes, Servicing Customer requests and working projects. We are currently working separation of Test applications to their own LPARs, Planning out HyperSwap, Data Center flip and pervasive encryption among other exciting projects.
Key responsibilities include :
Be part of the Mainframe Storage team supporting a 24/7 Mainframe Storage environment.
Supporting ICF Catalogs, SMS, HSM, SAMS Vantage, DTS SRS, Storage related Engineering Projects like DASD upgrades/refreshes, Hyperswap, Data Analysis, etc.
Collaborate with other teams and customers.
Design storage related solutions including Disaster Recovery and articulate clear documentation.
Mentoring junior staff.
Be available for weekend Project work.
Sr. Specialist Systems Engineer/Programmer-> > Leads the design and development of highly complex application problems, system administration issues, or network concerns. Performs systems management and integration functions. Conducts and leads analysis to correct systems, applications, software, and hardware that are not compliant with Corporate policy/procedures. Works closely with external vendors on large infrastructure engineering projects. Works closely with Application Development and Quality Assurance and Testing teams to understand infrastructure needs during the development and testing processes. Applies IT expertise in strategizing how to best develop infrastructure that will allow development and testing processes to be secure and efficient. Provides input and recommends processes in developing project plans. Monitors project progress and provides regular status reports to management team. Evaluates the effectiveness of the organization's existing infrastructure technology. Stays informed of current industry trends and emerging technologies. Researches and analyzes trends to recommend and implement upgrades that enhance the reliability and efficiency of the IT infrastructure. Contributes to the achievement of area objectives.
Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience is required, advanced degree is preferred.
Eight to ten (8-10) years of related experience is required.
Experience in the securities or financial services industry is a plus.
Experience with ICF Catalogs, DFSMS, DFHSM, SAMS Vantage.
Experience with IBM DS8000 series configuration, CSM, Global Mirror replication.
Support of IBM DS8000 Encryption Data at rest.
Experience with Brocade FICON 8510 port layout and configuration.
Tape Management software TMS and/or RMM.
IBM Metro Global Mirror replication.
Experience with ABARS, HyperSwap and GDPS.
