Join us as a Application Production Support, L2/L3 Group Manager!

Brown Brothers Harriman is currently recruiting Group Manager to join our Application Production Support organization.

The Application Production Support Group Manager is responsible for the formulation of a new centralized function within the Run the Bank Pillar that will provide L3 and L4 support for enterprise wide business applications and infrastructure. This position has oversight for the management of code defect fixes, configuration changes, scheduling updates and database updates. This team will work closely with our internal lines of business, internal IT staff including the existing L1/L2 support team and vendors in the day-to-day production support of critical applications and infrastructure.

Some of your key responsibilities include:

Planning & Organization

  • Planning & Organization - Responsible for drafting short term and 3 year plans forecasting systems future requirements
  • Planning & Organization - Responsible for working with business team on building a business case for projects
  • Planning & Organization - Define project scope and objectives
  • Leadership & Management

  • Responsible for appropriate workforce allocation
  • Manage & lead direct reports and team by establishing timely and challenging performance standards, providing ongoing feedback and conducting annual performance appraisals
  • Participate in the career development of staff, acting as a positive role model and mentor and encourage internal mobility
  • Be an Inclusive leader ensuring employees outside your location are heard
  • Participate in the interview and selection process, attract diverse, highly qualified, high potential candidates
  • Ensure discipline process for employees failing to meet expectations is properly managed
  • Delegate effectively by clearly communicating objectives, standards, responsibilities, and milestones to globally based employees, holding individuals and teams accountable for achieving results
  • Implement strategy through communicating and executing on a strategic vision that leverages and builds BBH's strengths to deliver a competitive advantage
  • Design & Implementation

  • Coordinate development of technical roadmaps for each of the applications
  • Foster and drive innovation, overseeing the prioritization of new business concepts/ideas
  • Coordinate and prioritize development activities with overall product rollout plans/activities
  • Leverage QA and the defined change management best practices early during the new build processes
  • Risk & Compliance

  • Work with the head of Enterprise Functions, oversee and ensure compliance to procedures and agreed policies
  • Develop and maintain risk and control
  • Seek and implement continuous improvement of the control environment w/o increasing time to market or development costs
  • Work closely with and leverage Audit, Legal, QA and other resources
  • Work with the head of Enterprise Functions, ensure contract guidelines are maintained with new vendor relationships
  • Draw upon extensive knowledge to assist business and systems teams during outages
  • Financial Control

  • Work with the head of Enterprise Functions responsible for Ongoing cost management and resource planning
  • Facilitate salary and bonus planning for the team
  • Control expenditure against agreed budgets getting ahead of unexpected expenses early
  • Financial planning includes working closely with the business and service delivery teams to determine the correct allocation of technology spend to reinvestment vs new build
  • Client Service

  • Work with the head of Enterprise Functions, Defining, agreeing and documenting service levels and RAG reporting
  • Work with the head of Enterprise Functions, lead internal service review meetings to review agreed KPIs
  • Build and maintain the business and systems \"service catalogues\" for the product
  • Responsible for kicking off formal SIPs (Service Improvement Plans) where required
  • Responsible for measuring and improving the systems - business cross team relationships
  • Work with the business to ensure that systems response to the business requirements is appropriate; facilitation of business advocacy within systems
  • Quality Control

  • May be involved in testing and sign off on large application development initiates
  • Disaster Recovery

  • Manage the Disaster Recovery (DR) Process for the systems including updating of the DR plan, periodic testing and activation in the event of an emergency
  • Analysis/Problem Resolution

  • Work with various SMEs and suppliers to perform reviews and/or Root Cause Analysis on production systems failures, formulate corrective action plans, ensure corrective actions are implemented and track their effectiveness
  • Manage and communicate problem resolution and system restoration status during unplanned outage events to LOB and IT Senior Management.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose and remediate issues to get production applications up and running again
  • Assist in identifying and/or make application changes/fixes to avoid similar issues in the future
  • Maintenance

  • Develop and manage the preventive maintenance programs for these systems including: patching, upgrades, tuning, performance management, etc.
  • Coordinate weekly problem management meetings with the clients and support teams to discuss all open issues and tickets and to prioritize remediation efforts with planned maintenance and other activities
  • Qualifications:

  • Experience in application development
  • Strong SDLC knowledge
  • Strong verbal, written, communication and presentation skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Must be organized and be able to manage at a detailed level in a thoughtful manner across multiple efforts simultaneously
  • Must be able to understand the big picture and be able to evaluate and drive consensus to adopt the best technologies or vendor platforms to service the business needs
  • Must be experienced with working with vendors, managing across teams, and working directly with the businesses
  • Ability to work under high pressure situations
  • Must have good communication skills
  • Should have an understanding of a wide variety of BBH applications
