Farrowing Manager As Farrowing Manager, you will be responsible to assist the farm manager as needed. Monitor all responsibilities of the farrowing department, from employees to the piglets, maintenance and cleaning of department. The Farrowing Lead will need to be aware and proactive about meeting farrowing goals of Cactus Family Farms. Key Responsibilities: Organize staff to ensure all department tasks are completed within the scheduled staff hours. Schedule daily, weekly and monthly department tasks. Monitor and assist in the farrowing process. Maintain accurate records. Promote and maintain a team of cooperation within the farrowing department. Supervise overall cleanliness of department, including proper washing, disinfection, tear down and set up of rooms between groups. Provide feedback to farm manager as needed and when requested. Assist farm manager as needed. Work with office staff to correct record discrepancies. Oversee and assist in processing, vaccinating and castration of piglets at appropriate times. Cross-foster piglets and identify piglets needing immediate attention. (Day 1 Pig Care Management) Wean pigs according to farm protocols. Procure, administer and dispensing of medications and vaccinations accordingly. Care and management of animals to ensure that:Animals are properly fedWater is availableSick animals are properly treated in a timely mannerOverall animal conditions are evaluated and maintained Move animals (sows, boars, and piglets) using safe handling practices. Ensure accurate count of piglets being weaned to nursery. Coordinate with Breeding Manager pre-farrow and post-farrow sow movements. Assist in loading truck. Oversee care and management of facilities to ensure that:Fans, curtains, heaters, and other equipment are workingVentilation equipment is adjusted to provide proper environment. Maintenance and repairs as needed.Facilities are kept clean, including power washing and disinfecting. Teach and train staff. Follow all applicable bio-security measures per Cactus Family Farm policies. Follow and encourage all safety rules and practices.
