Director, Global Human Resources Business Partner

Job Description Summary:

The Global Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) is responsible for aligning business objectives with people management in designated business divisions. They will serve as a strategic consultant to management regarding human resource related issues/decisions and proactively anticipate HR related needs.

The role will partner closely with Global HR Centers of Excellence Total rewards, Talent Acquisition, Employee Relations, Organizational Effectiveness, and Diversity and Inclusion to not only define and implement organization-wide global initiatives, but to also develop and offer an integrated and comprehensive set of HR services and solutions.

The position will be located in Charlottesville, Virginia, USA and will be led by the Senior Director, Global Human Resources Business Partner or Chief Human Resources Officer, depending on level of experience the incumbent brings to the role, which will define the level of accountability for the role.

Job Description:


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Build and develop proactive, collaborative working relationships with employees and people leaders of the business functions supported in order to inform the people agenda
  • Provide counsel and guidance on all people related initiatives
  • Partner closely with employees and people leaders to build engagement and further foster our cultural values
  • Gain a deep understanding of the business strategy and the implications of the strategy on human resources policies, programs and practices
  • Collaborate and partner with HR colleagues to help shape HR strategies, policies and programs and manage the delivery of the service to the business
  • Partner with the business leaders to identify talent and build appropriate development plans at all levels and succession plans for identified key roles
  • Partner with the business to facilitate the annual Performance Management process including goal setting, mid-year and year-end reviews & calibrations across the business areas supported
  • Partner with the Total Rewards team in areas such as the annual compensation & reward cycles; and compensation frameworks and decision making for new hires, in-seat equity reviews, global mobility and potential exit management
  • Partner with the Global Benefits team to help implement global benefits policy, procedures, practices and programs
  • Partner with the Organizational Development team to support the identification of training and development needs by identifying business needs and business strategy, and assessing appraisals, talent management and succession planning activities to foster the development of a high-performing and highly engaged workforce
  • Partner with the Talent Acquisition team to establish resourcing plans that support the delivery of business strategy and support the hiring of all staff across the business groups supported
  • Partner with the Employee Relations team to address sensitive employee issues
  • Provide overall HR policy guidance and interpretation
  • Bachelor s degree required, Master s degree preferred
  • Minimum 5 to 7 years of experience as an HR Business Partner or generalist for Senior HRBP role, 3 to 5 for HRBP role, preferably in a global, multi-cultural organization
  • Must have proven experience operating with and influencing in a geographically dispersed organization
  • Must be business focused with a proven ability in guiding and supporting business leaders to help them achieve their strategic aim
  • Understanding of HR disciplines including talent acquisition, employee relations, total rewards, organizational development, diversity and inclusion and organizational effectiveness
  • Ability to think and act on both strategic and tactical levels
  • Matrix and multiple project / program management experience required
  • Proven experience with broad range of employee relations issues and negotiations
  • Emotionally intelligent with demonstrable experience of influencing and challenging senior business leaders
  • Proven ability to collaborate with colleagues and work effectively in teams as team leaders or team members
  • Fluency in English required, knowledge of additional languages would be useful
  • Excellent communication skills including written, verbal, listening, and presentation
  • Flexibility in competently juggling competing priorities and changing expectations
  • Excellent consulting, problem solving, and analytical skills
  • Energy to put in the hours of concentrated work necessary to achieve goals while maintaining a positive attitude
  • Travel, approximately 10-25% of the time, will be required to support global clients and meetings
