This AVP Field HR Business Partner will support CNA's Field Underwriting organization for the East. It is highly preferred the individual office from our New York Branch and frequent travel will be required.
The AVP, Field HR Business Partner works closely with SVP and VP Branch Managers to deliver human capital solutions to improve business results across their assigned geography. Serves as catalyst for culture change by leveraging an underwriting and enterprise-wide vantage point to ensure barriers are removed and successes are adopted across the Field.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Performs a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines:
* Partners with Field and Home Office leaders to create and drive human capital strategy across their assigned geography. Prioritizes and sequences the development and deployment of human capital solutions to achieve maximum leverage and impact to CNA. * Operates as a key member of the Underwriting HR team ensuring that dots are connected and strategies are effectively generated and deployed across the territory. * Serves as a trusted advisor to the Branch Managers and acts as a key member of the leadership team. Challenges appropriately, escalates issues and barriers, and ensures that branch network is empowered and effective. * Travels frequently to the Branches across assigned territory to ensure effective management and leadership, issue escalation, employee relations and performance and talent management practices are in place. * Visibly supports and advocates company strategy and removes organizational barriers to achieve goals. Develops comprehensive culture and change management strategies to guide the enterprise from current to future state. * Partners with Talent Consultant and HRBPs to ensure effective execution of key talent processes across territory branch network including talent review and succession planning, employee engagement action planning, performance management, and development planning. * Leads and develops the Human Resources function to become a high performing department that delivers solutions in a coordinated way and in line with enterprise strategy. * Attracts, engages and develops high performing HR professionals. Coaches for performance. Knows and plays to people's strengths, motivators and career aspirations. * Expert user of data and business knowledge to identify trends and diagnose organizational issues. Leads the development and execution of organization effectiveness practices that generate increased company growth, people performance and company revenue. * May manage a small team. * Travel approximately 50% of the time or as needed based on need.

Ability to recognize trends and influence leaders based on data analysis. * Strong influencing, negotiation and facilitation skills with the ability to foster and maintain collaborative relationships with customers, peers, subordinates and senior leadership. * Strong communication and presentation skills both verbal and written, including the ability to communicate business and technical information clearly. * Knowledge of the HR field including employment laws and regulations. * Ability to manage large, matrixed or cross-functional teams through the use of group dynamics while encouraging creativity and innovation. * Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to deal with and resolve complex, cross-functional or large scale issues while providing flexible solutions. * Excellent program and project management, organizing and planning skills. * Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite as well as other business-related software. * Experience managing others.
Education & Experience
* Master's degree or equivalent experience with professional certifications preferred. * Typically a minimum of ten years of related work experience with demonstrated proficiency in required HR skills and abilities and five years of management experience. * LI-WM1
