Thoacic Surgery - Central IL. Our Foundation Hospital seeking Thoracic Surgeon for our Cancer Center with Leadership Opportunity and an Academic Appointment at our Illinois College of Medicine in Illinois.
The ideal candidate would have some post-training experience, be board certified/board eligible in Thoracic Surgery and have excellent interpersonal skills for program building. Candidates with leadership experience or interest are welcome to apply.
*Focus on oncological surgical management of patients with lung and esophagus cancers, thymus tumors, interventional bronchoscopy, with some benign foregut surgery cases.
*Training and interest in Minimally Invasive Thoracic Surgery is preferred.

*Work with a Surgical Oncologist in the Cancer Center for management of select patients with cancer and would also enjoy a great support for call coverage from three (3) Cardiothoracic Surgeons who primarily focus on cardiac pathology at our Heart and Vascular Institute (HVI). Both the Cancer Center and HVI are on the same campus. It currently has two (2) Da Vinci Robots and wants to stay at the forefront of technological advances in medicine.
Our Health system is one of the very few health systems in the nation to offer its own health insurance product. In 2018, our physician group and the Univ. of Illinois opened their doors to first medical student class at our new College of Medicine.
Academic appointment will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
The position would include a dedicated time for teaching General Surgery Residents at our General Surgery Residency Program. For candidates with a strong academic background, a research component will strongly be considered.
