MKTG - VP, Creative (Experiential/Events Experience)

Job Description:

This creative leader should have experience leading and mentoring a cross-discipline team of strategy, concept, design and content artists in the experiential/lifestyle marketing realm. Global sophistication and knowledge of relevant, catalyst cultures is a must. She/he should have strong people management skills, communication skills, excellent client/peer relation skills, exceptional presentation abilities and be a visionary for junior and associate creatives. She/he must partner effectively with all departments to ensure delivery of on-time, high-quality brand marketing solutions that uniquely address client challenges. She/he is a master storyteller with the ability to command a room and build strong client relationships ? interacting in a positive, professional, and motivating manner. And must be dedicated to operational excellence ? efficiently translating creative, design and content expertise into succinct and extensible solutions. This individual should also be capable of actively owning key projects/deliverables regarding existing and new business opportunities, from concept to design and execution. Finally, she/she will be part of the NYC leadership team, helping to drive the vision, direction and culture of the business unit.

You MUST have creative agency experience preferably with a thorough understanding of experiential marketing.

Roles and Responsibilities:

* Creative Excellence

* Sets an inspirational creative vision and high standards for the business

* Responsible for creative excellence, including problem solving, creative strategy, quality of creative craft, innovation within creative team, and impact of creative product.

* Provides leadership and direction of the creative process; Is the final arbiter of creative excellence for the design group.

* Provides clear creative direction at initiation, and follows through by coaching creative team members as well as account teams, while monitoring and guiding their efforts, and investing in successful results

* Inspires creativity, innovative thinking, and focused effort in the development of strong concepts and solutions

* Is capable of exploring new, business-oriented directions, and has the ability to stand behind well-conceived ideas while leveraging the views of the client

* Offers versatile communication and problem-solving skills, and is equally comfortable with words and visuals

* Advocates brand and identity standards, and extracts their equity to maximum effect

* Strategic Brand & Business Sense

* Understands and is able to manage the delivery and implementation of brand strategies

* Effectively partners with client/strategy directors to merge creative ideas with strategic thinking, and recognizes them as co-owners of the business

* Helps to guarantee the implementation of realistic and thorough design strategies

* Ability to continually drive growth and new business

* Ability to translate from idea to action and drive team to successful execution

* Thorough appreciation for robust digital solutions integration, technology innovation and opportunities for I.P. development

* People & Team

* Responsible for successfully managing recruitment and retention of talent and directing business activity in the MKTG New York office

* Acts as an inspirational leader for team and internal partners across departments (not just strategy and creative)

* Ensures and maintains cross-discipline expertise and fosters collaboration and sense of community within creative staff

* Provides motivation by rewarding talent, imagination, collaboration, passion and leadership ? while finding opportunities to serve as a patient and diligent mentor

* Seeks out and identifies opportunities for team members' growth and provides ongoing performance evaluations addressing creative quality, client development and profitability, collaboration with other creative leads, and staff development

* Supports and counsels Strategy, Creative and Design Directors in staff development and performance appraisals and/or issues

* Assists Executive Vice President and Recruiter in identifying new talent

* Organizational

* Works with Project Management Director to establish and assign creative lead to client engagements; May also be day-to-day creative lead for some clients

* Partners with Project Management Director to ensure maximum utilization and efficiency of permanent and freelance design resources

* Collaborates with Project Management, Account Services, and Production teams to manage multiple projects and ensure compliance to all deadlines and budgets

Qualifications and Requirements

* Wide personal frame of reference in areas of design, culture, media, and arts

* Holds a BA+ degree in a design/communications discipline with a minimum of 10 years employment in a creative position; Agency experience strongly recommended

* Possesses confident, dynamic, highly creative vision, exhibits competence in communication and interpersonal skills, and exemplifies creative agility and professionalism to staff and client

* Understands the creative role in marketing and has the strategic understanding to combine business and aesthetic goals in developing new and effective approaches to complex design problems, turning ideas into tangible form

* Minimum of 10 years in a supervisory capacity and exhibits strong, confident leadership and the desire to mentor subordinates, offering guidance and encouragement, individual development, and a learning environment

* Agile with time management, and capable of advancing multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high standards for execution, accuracy, and attention to detail

* High level of design experience in Adobe Creative Suite, with experience in digital, video and other creative and communications disciplines a major plus

* Comfortable with the marketing and promotions of tobacco products
