As the Director of Research & Insights, Finance, it will be your responsibility to partner with the CRO, VP of Marketing, and GMs of Investopedia and The Balance to support and enhance strategic plans across the organization through the use of Dotdash’s unique first-party data, custom primary research, and syndicated/external data sources. About Your Contributions: Become the expert on Investopedia & The Balance audiences (including The Balance Careers and The Balance, Small Business) Work with both brand’s leaderships teams to ensure day-to-day research needs are supported with in-depth, authoritative insights in line with overall brand and business strategy—whether in response to a single RFP or to grow a larger client relationship Establish both short-term and long-term roadmaps to drive results for Investopedia and The Balance, aligned to the team’s strategic plans Collaborate closely with The Finance Group’s revenue, content, product, and marketing teams to provide impactful insights that support their strategic plans, helping to shape those plans as appropriate Provide leadership for first-party and primary research projects—translate stakeholder objectives to research needs; identify appropriate research techniques, data sources, and partners; manage projects from start to finish; ensure findings are packaged appropriately for all internal stakeholders; present findings to internal and external audiences as needed Provide the Research point of view in sales meetings, internal meetings, and conferences as needed Proactively identify opportunities for Research to further support the business About You: 5+ years of research and analytics experience, with experience in the media landscape and/or Finance experience Expertise in working with large data sets to synthesize information and draw out key insights Expertise in using both syndicated and primary research findings to guide business decisions Experience with both qualitative and quantitative primary research approaches—including everything from initial design through to communication of results Experience managing and mentoring research analysts A proven track record of leading projects from start to finish and delivering business value Exceptional communication and collaborative abilities—excellent research storytelling skills allow you to draw out key insights and communicate them in compelling and engaging ways Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills Solid grasp of statistics and research methodology College degree required
