Job Overview

The Joplin plant manufactures products such as biscuits, pizza crust, pot pies and pie crust for main Convenience & Foodservice customers such as Wal-Mart, Sams Club, KFC, Pizza Hut. This facility offers a great opportunity to diversify learnings and develop, utilize and enhance Quality Engineering skill sets. The Sr. QE reports to the plant FSQ manager and is critical to the success of the facility. This role offers a great deal of breadth, depth and accountability in food safety, quality, and regulatory compliance with opportunities to lead FSQ initiatives.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Provide FSQ leadership & direction for the Avon facility through technical mastery in the areas of regulatory compliance, SPC, FSSC, sanitation, HACCP, allergen control, hold order management, defect handling and FSRA.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally, both internally and externally to support business needs
  • Drive Continuous Improvement initiatives to meet FSQ and plant objectives
  • Strong ability to properly assess risk and prioritize actions accordingly. Able to manage multiple priorities and know when to pull in resources.
  • Provide leadership and technical support for R&D, reformulations and new product start-ups
  • Develop and provide training in the areas of food safety, regulatory, sanitation and quality measurement systems to appropriate personnel
  • Drive sanitary design improvements along with food safety lead for engineering/maintenance projects.
  • Develop and maintain programs to ensure the facility meets all GMP/regulatory, HACCP, sanitation and product safety guidelines
  • Collaborate with product managers to respond to customer complaints, address product issues, and manage product specifications
  • Manage FSRA and FSSC programs and ensure FSMA compliance and sustain FSSC certification within the facility
  • Provide human safety leadership, including management of an assigned safety program.
  • Ensure compliance with FSSC, FSMA, VCOE, customer, and regulatory requirements, and the ability to manage the audits associated with them.
  • Will act as designate Food Safety TL in FSQ Managers absence.
  • Responsibilities

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors degree
  • 3+ years of related experience
  • Ability to flex work schedule when required to support a 24/7 manufacturing operation. This includes weekend on-call support and occasional early/late work hours.
  • Proficient knowledge of product quality, sensory, sanitation and food safety programs.
  • Strong understanding of internal policies/standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Basic understanding of Zero Loss Culture Continuous Improvement philosophy and tools.
  • Ability to apply quality engineering principles and ability to troubleshoot.
  • Demonstrated leadership and initiative.
  • Bias for action and results
  • Demonstrated ability to lead peer group and affect change/department direction via influence management.
  • Flexibility and motivation to cover all areas of FSQ and able to create innovative solutions to problems with limited resources.
  • Hold or have the ability to obtain 3rd Party HACCP and PCQI certification.
  • Basic knowledge of integrated pest management
  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to build relationships and get work accomplished with and through people at all levels of the organization, differing styles, and multiple functions
  • Ability to lead constructive, positive change within a plant environment.
  • Be able to display proficiency in developing mutual respect and trust with Admin, Production, and external teams in order to execute programs and achieve goals.
