Given the increased focus on data and analytics and the need to ensure we have a comprehensive strategy that is aligned to the Vaccines business, a role of Data Engineer has been added.

In the emerging data and analytics world data engineering plays a key role and the data engineer must build data applications to help solve business problems. He/She will need to use an experimental and iterative approach. These approaches involve trial and error and may require multiple cycles, so are best addressed using iterative development methods such as agile or lean.

As a data engineer you must develop, construct, test, and maintain data pipelines connecting with but not limited to various source systems, databases, and large-scale systems. To do so, they will need to employ a variety of languages and tools to marry systems together or try to hunt down opportunities to acquire new data from other systems so that the system-specific codes, for example, can become information in further processing by data scientists.

  • Assist in model development, evaluation, and deployment to support decision making across the functional areas and translate complex findings and results into a compelling narrative. Define and develop programming for self-service decision support solutions
  • Data lifecycle management ingestion, contextualization, feature engineering and operationalization and partner with data scientists to build and deliver digital solutions
  • Performing thorough testing and validation in order to support the accuracy of data transformations and data verification used in machine learning models
  • Strive to ensure proper data governance and quality across the Data and Analytics department and the business as a whole
  • Learn and deploy leading technologies in the data and analytics space specific to business needs in order to get results and find opportunities
  • Work with technology partners to integrate information and solutions in a seamless, repeatable and consistent way
  • Design and build analytically ready data sets that will simplify the outputs of the models
  • Collaborates with domain experts in privacy, security, and compliance to ensure that the data engineering design uphold privacy, security, and compliance requirements

    Basic Qualifications:

    We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • Bachelors in engineering or sciences with relevant experience required.
  • 4+ years of overall experience with 1+ years in large Biopharmaceutical company or related industry. Must have experience in at least one of the following domains: R&D, Manufacturing, RWE, Commercial experience required
  • Knowledge of Cloud (Azure or AWS or Google Cloud) platform infrastructure and on-prem to run and optimize distributed data applications
  • Working knowledge of big data components like HDFS, Spark, Hive, MapReduce, Kafka, Elastic Search, NoSQL technologies, and various file formats such as Avro, Parquet, etc. and be comfortable utilizing blended data from various platforms and devices data as well as extracting information from large scale applications like SAP
  • Preferred Qualifications:

    If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • Expertise with ETL, data pipeline development and data cleansing with large-scale, complex data-sets
  • Extensive hands on experience with analyzing and designing data models for Data warehousing and Transactional applications with high availability/ scalability & performance
  • Understanding of data lifecycle required around data ingestion (ingest data from disparate systems into cloud computing environment), data contextualization (merging large data sets, developing algorithms to merge and clean data); data insights and analytics
  • Knowledge of build systems and version control systems such as Git
