Golden Krust Caribbean Bakery, Inc. is seeking a Manager, Cost AccountingGolden Krust Caribbean Bakery, Inc.The Manager, Cost Management is responsible for directing and developing an appropriate ongoing analytical framework that identifies opportunities, and working with both the manufacturing and restaurant operations teams to improve overall gross profit margins.Job briefThe Manager, Cost Management reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer of Golden Krust Caribbean Bakery, Inc. and Golden Krust Franchising, Inc., supporting the lines of business of Retail and Restaurants.Planning, analyzing and collecting data to determine costs of business activity such as raw material purchases, inventory, distribution and laborAnalyzing data collected and recording resultsAnalyzing proposed or actual changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods or transportation services provided, to determine effects on costAnalyzing actual manufacturing and distribution costs and preparing periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production and distribution costsPresenting results to operations and executive management, identifying areas of opportunities and trendsIdentifying opportunities to better manage commodity costs and implementing such programs, including hedging strategiesRecording, tracking and analyzing cost information for use in controlling expendituresAnalyzing audits of costs and preparing reportsProviding estimates of new and proposed product costsProviding management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products or servicesMaintaining cost accounting system ensuring compliance with US generally accepted accounting principlesAssisting in month end close of the general ledgerConducting physical inventories, establish a perpetual inventory system including a cycle count programReconciling finished goods inventories for Retail divisionDeveloping analytics to support proper actual and standard costing of each product soldIdentifying policies and procedures to control product costs and inventory, including proper training programs for operations staffCollaborating with operations management within Retail and Restaurants in implementing best practicesPreparing cost estimates of new or special products for establishing selling prices and production forecastsMaintaining responsibility for routine compilation of manufacturing costs for payroll, inventory accountability, distribution of factory labor, verification of actual costs and computation of variancesMaintaining model responsibility for product line variance and earned labor model for Restaurants division and works closely with restaurant accounting to ensure accurate and timely reporting thereonCalculating burden rates and establish expense budgets for manufacturing and indirect departmentsChecking and validating data on labor and materials costs burden and expense items, inventory, and profit and loss adjustmentsDevising, installing or controlling systems for determining unit cost of products or servicesDistributing costs between the various divisions of management and productionClassifying production costs into wages, material and overheadCompetenciesFinancial and economic managementBusiness acumenCommunication proficiencyEthical conductLeadershipPerformance managementPersonal effectiveness/credibilityProblem solving/analysisStrategic thinkingTechnical capacityRequirementsMinimum of four to five years of cost accounting in a (lean) manufacturing environmentBachelor’s degree in economics, finance or accounting.
