We are looking for a dynamic and compassionate Senior Social Worker to join our team. The Senior Social Worker supervises two Case Workers and carries a small caseload of 2-3 families. For assigned cases, provides home-based, intensive, strength-based comprehensive services to families whose children are at risk of foster care placement due to mental illness and/or chemical dependency and are currently receiving court-ordered supervision or at risk of court ordered supervision.

Hours: 35 Hours/Week; Exempt
Major Duties:
+ Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate assigned staff around casework counseling and group work responsibilities, home visits, appropriate case documentation, and advocacy.
+ Complete monthly supervisory case review notes for each case supervised.
+ Participates in Administration for Childrens Services (ACS) Child Safety Conferences (CSC) to engage families who are referred to Court Ordered Supervision (COS) or at risk of COS.
+ For assigned cases:
+ Conducts assessments of children and families based on a strength-based model.
+ Provide home-based counseling services along with as-needed crisis interventions, advocacy and outreach for designated caseload.
+ Facilitate referrals to alcohol and substance abuse treatment and mental health facilities and other service providers including escorts to appointments as needed.
+ Facilitate all Family Team Conferences.
+ Prepare and maintain progress notes, court reports, FASP documentation and appropriate statistical reports in designated database systems for caseload of 8 families.
+ Maintain appropriate utilization of State and City databases, as well as agency databases.
+ Participate in required agency and ACS mandated trainings.
+ Attend and participate in program staff meetings, as well as related agency and eternal trainings as needed and appropriate.
+ Participate in Clinical Diagnostic Team Meetings.
+ Develop a collaborative partnership with ACS -Family Service Unit worker and ACS lawyer; and when involved, Good Shepherd Services family worker.
+ Implement and integrate the principles and procedures of Solution Based Casework: assessment, family and individual level outcomes, action plans and documentation and celebration.
+ Actively participate in case consultation, continued SBC training and the SBC certification process.
+ Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
+ Masters degree in Social Work preferred or equivalent degree.
+ NY State License in Social Work required or license in equivalent degree.
+ 1 year child welfare experience required
+ Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
+ Must be willing to travel extensively throughout the Bronx.
+ Willingness to work with families and children impacted by chemical dependency and mental illness.
+ Must be able to work two evenings per week until 7:00 p.m.
+ Excellent organizational, written, and communication skills.
+ Must have a commitment to work from a strength-based and/or youth development perspective.
