POSITION The Our Space Initiative is an innovative program to provide light tough social services to formerly homeless families and individuals living in Our Space units, and will work closely with the management company and tenants to identify and address problematic situations quickly and effectively. The light touch services will be focused on formerly homeless families and individuals living in the buildings who are at risk of eviction because of rental arrears, behavioral issues or for violating other terms of their lease. These services will concentrate on promoting housing stability while preventing the need for more intensive services now and in the future. The overarching goal of the light touch services will be to integrate As a Retention Specialist, you will provide services that include intake and assessment; case management, homelessness prevention, crisis intervention; advocacy, service referrals; after care case management and follow up on all significant barriers to housing stability. The ideal candidate would have prior experience working with the homeless and experience in a high paced environment with clients from diverse economic, cultural and social backgrounds. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES: Deeply understand the foundational concepts of CTI and implement its practice guidelines in the clinical and concrete work with this client base. Understand the work of the HomeBase team to include, but not limited to; housing court procedures, the financial assistance process, etc. Meets with assigned families on a regularly scheduled basis in their home and to review their progress towards achieving the goals of the service plan. participants through consistent communication via phone, text, email, mail, and in person visits to participants Meet regularly with participants to build trust, provide supportive services and link to other community agencies to resolve barriers to housing stability that include, but are not limited to, landlord mediation, Enter Maintain that lead to stabilization in permanent housing Assist in negotiating the social service system, advocate with the mainstream service providers when needed, and accompany participants to appointments as necessary Maintain housing stability for tenants Participate in weekly staff meetings, client case conference, in-service meetings, and monthly housing meetings. Attend all required trainings and workshops for critical time intervention. Administrative office experience with good verbal and written communication skills Adheres to Part 900 regulations and HELP USA Policies and Procedures Bachelor Degree in Social Work At least two years of direct social service experience, including working in a shelter setting or with homeless population strongly desired Prior experience working with Knowledge of NYS/NYC Experience in case management, assessment, counseling and crisis intervention preferred Proficient in Microsoft Office applications Strong verbal, writing, and negotiation skills; experience with providing client advocacy and mediation Client focus and adaptability to different personality types and age groups Ability to take the initiative, be dependable, resourceful and pay keen attention to detail Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) preferred Valid NYS drivers license, a plus Must be able to travel between offices (drive or use mass transit)
