Registered Nurse in the State of Kansas.

BLS through American Heart Association (is required within 30 days of hire).

Duties of Med/Surg Registered Nurse:

  • Evaluate, plan, implement, and document individualized nursing plan of care for patients.
  • Promote patient independence by establishing goals and including the patient and family in discussions regarding medical issues, testing, medications, and self-care skills.
  • Observe patients physical, mental, and emotional conditions and report any changes as appropriate.
  • Abide by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability privacy and security regulations regarding all aspects of Protected Health Information (PHI).
  • Demonstrate unit-specific competencies required by unit-specific checklists. This should occur within a reasonable orientation timeframe to a new unit and on-going thereafter.
