It's a very exciting time for our Laboratory Medicine department as we recently moved to a new state-of-the-art laboratory medicine facility on East 64th Street between First and Second Avenues. For further information, please visit:

We are seeking a new Manager for our Histocompatibility (HLA) Laboratory.

You will:

Be responsible for the management of staff and operations of a new histocompatibility laboratory. The Department of Laboratory Medicine is expanding our specialized testing menu to include histocompatibility testing in support of MSKCC's hematopoietic stem cell transplant programs and immunotherapy initiatives. The manager will be involved in the planning and implementation of this new laboratory, under the direction of the technical and medical directors, including:

* Equipment selection and purchase process
* Coordination with Project Managers and Facilities Management
* Supervisory oversight of instrument and method validations
* Coordination with LIS team for histocompatibility module build in the institution's LIS

You are:

* A strong, assertive leader who is able to motivate and inspire a high performing team.
* Able to Manage technical and support staff
* Support the lab's quality initiatives, aligned with the department's robust Quality Management System
* Someone who excels at managing multiple projects within dynamic, changing settings.

You Have:

* Bachelor's degree in medical technology or an appropriate biological/chemical science from an accredited college or university is required.
* A current New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist license or ASCP certification with eligibility to apply for a NY license preferred.
* Certifications as a Histocompatibility Technologist (CHT) AND as a Histocompatibility Specialist (CHS) by the American Board for Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics (ABHI) are preferred.
* 10+ years managing or supervising in a clinical lab setting.
* Strong experience in formulating and managing budgets.

HOURS: 9-5 Monday- Friday.
