The Hematologic Oncology Tissue Bank (HOTB) is a centralized facility for the processing and storage of human biological specimens from patients with hematologic and lymphoid malignancies. The HOTB does not conduct actual investigative research, but instead provides biospecimens to other investigators at MSKCC conducting research using human biospecimens. These may include blood cells, plasma, serum, bone marrow cells, or lymphoid cells or tissue. Each stored specimen is linked to demographic and clinical information regarding the patient's diagnosis, treatment history, and treatment response. The HOTB adheres to stringent quality control standards to ensure that stored biospecimens are of consistent quality and linked to validated clinical information for MSKCC investigators using the shared resource. We are looking for a talented Research Technician.
* Be responsible for processing samples daily and involved in ongoing quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) of biospecimens. * Problem-solve within limits of knowledge and training, with guidance and direction from more senior HOTB staff and laboratory investigators. * Operate equipment in which training has been received as part of normal laboratory work, or by prior education/training. This may include standard or specialized laboratory equipment. * Schedule own assignments in consultation with technician colleagues and investigators. * Maintain and order regular supplies and reagents for day-to-day laboratory operation, and keep accurate records of same.
* BA/BS in Biological or Natural Science. * 0-3 years of research experience. Ability to work independently and perform repetitive tasks with no loss of accuracy. * Familiarity with QA/QC beneficial. #LI-POST
