Patient Coordinator I- FPA Operations (2359872)

The Patient Coordinator I greets and establishesfirst contact with patients, or performs in a call center capacity. Confirmsand updates patient demographics and verifies insurance as necessary to ensurethat patients have appropriate insurance for physician they are seeing.

Roles & Responsibilities:

* Greet patientseither in person or via telephone, and update their insurance/demographics inthe practice management system
* Assure thatphysician accepts insurance that patients present with. If not already doneprior to visit, verify insurance prior to patient's arrival or at minimum attime of arrival before visit
* Communicate withappropriate staff regarding patient's arrival, and ensure that patient'smedical record is available for physician
* Process/updateHIPAA-related paperwork and other institutional forms as necessary
* Collect orretrieve referrals or insurance authorizations as required
* Review status ofwaiting room on a routine basis and ensure that patients are kept advised ofwait times
* Ensures thatpatient has paid co-pay or collects co-pay under direction of billing staff,providing patient with receipt following established cash-control processes
* May schedulepatient for follow-up appointment as needed. Provide patient with guidelinesfor requesting medical records, if necessary
* May perform simplecharge entry tasks or enter payments collected from patients and prepareCashier's deposit. Note: duties are mutually exclusive and may not be performedby the same employee
* Performs in a callcenter capacity (Faculty Practice Associates)
* Answer phones forpractice and schedule appointments
* Follow all HIPAAand any other governmental or state agency requirements regarding theappropriate handling of PHI documents
* May initiatereminder phones calls for next day appointments
* Performs otherrelated duties

Requirements:

* Education: High School graduate/GED
* Experience:1year physician practice experience
* Must have aminimum of one week training on-site which will be provided by practice
* Prefer experiencein a medical office setting, utilizing a computer system for physicianscheduling.
