Highly profitable mutual insurance company has retained The Carlisle Group seeking to hire a talented Director of Claims. The role, part of the company's internal succession plan, will be groomed to become the Vice President of Claims in the next two years. Our client is seeking a talented claims professional with strong depth of knowledge in both the Property & Casualty sides of the business. Strong leadership presence will be critical for this highly visible role in the organization. Job Summary: Responsible to receive and execute adjustment (or denial as necessary) of all property and casualty claims submitted to company in timely and professional manner. Responsibilities: Supervise staff adjusters and corresponding support staff. Review all claims submitted and assign to staff adjusters or self with instructions for handling as deemed necessary. Monitor claim handling of staff adjusters and assist as needed. Review all completed claim files prior to issuing the check for loss and or Loss Adjustment Expense payments. Monitor and complete adjustment on own claim files with assistance from Independent Adjusters as needed, including correspondence, form completion, P/O/L Releases, etc. Research and develop claim forms as needed. Continue work with our Programmer to build system for claims handling with goal to minimize paperwork and repetitive tasks. Sign expense and claims checks issued. Produce quarterly and annual reserve report for our CPA. Produce other claim reports as directed for CPA, CEO, etc. Take appropriate action on all FAX E-mails, Texts, etc. received in the department. Monitor and assist with reinsurance loss notices and loss recoveries. Continue with the development of the claims procedure manual. Assist with maintenance and/or hiring of contractors for building repairs. Attend Department Head and Staff meetings. Attend Board meetings as Officer of the Company. Serve on sub-committees of company as assigned or requested. Attend claims related seminars and continuing education classes. Maintain New York State Broker's license. Interview and hire staff adjustors and support staff as necessary. Research and appoint vendors in support of claim adjustment process (i.e., Attorneys, Independent Adjusters, Water & smoke restoration firms, cause and origin experts, engineers, etc.
