Brief Description:

The Business Unit Controller is responsible for overseeing all the day to day accounting activities for one or more of Dun & Bradstreet s business units, ensuring a strong internal control environment, and providing support to General Managers with accurate financial data and insight. The Business Unit Controller will oversee monthly closing activities (inclusive of revenue and expense analyses), account reconciliations, and assist with reviews by our external auditors. This is a very \"hands on\" accounting role with interaction with different departments (various business units, legal, and FP&A) and a high level of visibility within the organization.

Job ResponsibilitiesLead the consolidation and close process including reviewing the monthly Balance Sheet, Cash Flow and P&L performance vs. plan, forecast and/or other expectations for designated D&B Business Units

Support implementation of key financial systems

Support business initiatives (i.e. new product launches, M&A activity, etc.)

Review Company policies and support assessment and implementation of new accounting standards Build and maintain relationships with our external auditors and key business contacts including Revenue Accounting, FP&A, Sales, IT and Legal.

Partner with the Finance Systems owners on system enhancements and process automation for the financial statement close process.

Assist with preparing month-end accounting close package and variance explanations for Management, C-level, and Audit Committee materials

Project management of new initiatives undertaken by the Accounting Organization

Responsible for managing a team of accounting professionals

Key Requirements

Education/Experience and Competencies

9 12 years experience with increasing responsibility in general accounting (i.e. accounts payable, general ledger, fixed assets), financial reporting, audit, tax preparation and compliance At least 4 years of experience in Big Four firms; relevant experience at either public or private companies

Bachelors Degree in Accounting required; MBA or CPA preferred.

Hands on financial statement preparation and the direction of others in the performance of the same function.

Strong and demonstrated leadership and management abilities, collaboration and organizational skills

Strong business acumen and the ability to influence and develop strong working relationships within a global organization.

Proficiency in the full suite of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word. PowerPoint and Access Ability to work within a teaming/collaborative environment.
