The Data Solutions and Governance team creates and provides data solutions and services that enable the business to make better-informed and timely business and strategic decisions. It also leads enterprise-wide data governance initiatives to curate and standardize key datasets and designs and implements data management initiatives.
The team is in search of a strong business analyst to support New York Life s enterprise-wide data management and governance initiatives. The candidate will work closely with the business subject matter experts (SMEs) and technology teams to make decisions impacting the management and governance of the company s data going forward. The role will also support the Data Solutions & Governance team s ongoing, client-based initiatives, ultimately providing solutions to a wide range of internal stakeholders across the business. Note: This is an individual-contributor role. Also, while this is a Business-facing role, there will be heavy interaction with Technology teams
* Collaborate with stakeholders from multiple disciplines to elicit business, data and functional requirements * Manage project scope and schedule by coordinating with stakeholders on logical data model design changes and developing business data glossaries including business definitions and business rules to support the logical and physical data model design * Translate data requirements into clearly defined and easily understood documents, including: business use cases, process flows, data flows, business rules, data definitions and process-to-data mapping diagrams etc. * Work with stakeholders including business and technology SMEs to conduct design sessions/training sessions / demos, and to develop user manuals and guides * Work closely with the design and development team to ensure that the technology solution satisfies business requirements * Partner with QA team and SMEs to ensure adequate test coverage (relying on own knowledge, as well as facilitating conversations with SMEs, to identify additional test scenarios) * Develop multiple implementation options each with associated risks/costs and where applicable, recommend an option * Identify and lead the implementation of process improvements to speed development, reduce costs, and improve application quality * Assist with troubleshooting and managing production issues when needed
