The Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene, Inc.. is seeking a Research Assistant (Laboratory Monitor) to work in a grant-funded behavioral pharmacology research laboratory and will be responsible for observing and recording research participants' activities in a residential laboratory.
Research Laboratory Monitor will use computers to record participants' behaviors, communicate with participants, and process food requests. Incumbent will assist in operational activities, data collection, and food packaging. Research Monitors will work under the supervision of the Laboratory Manager and Principal Investigators.
The hours for this position are as follows:
Evenings (5:00pm - 9:00pm or 4:00pm-midnight) and Overnights (11:30pm - 8:00am), including frequent weekends. Reimbursement for car fare available for evening hour transportation.
Work schedule is flexible and irregular; there will be 2-4 weeks of frequent shifts followed by 2-4 weeks of limited/no shifts. May work a combination of evening, overnight and weekend shifts, as needed.
Some college required, must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Flexible availability required. Those with data entry, database use, and research experience will be given preference.
Experience with computers, behavioral science, and human subject research is useful. Attention to detail and ability to work independently is imperative.
Organizational skills, attention to detail, good judgment, and the ability to work without continuous supervision are critical components of this position. Familiarity/proficiency with Excel, Word and PowerPoint are essential.
