North Runnels Hospital Winters, Texas Job Description Job Title: Emergency Medical Services Department Head Department: Emergency Medical Services Job Summary: Plans, directs, coordinates the overall operation of the ambulance service to insure safe and effective operation. Supervises ambulance service personnel. Responsible for maintaining the current level of State licensure with Texas Department of State Health Services and filing all reports, licensure paperwork and any other requested documents in a timely manner. OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Class 1 Job Qualifications: Education: High school graduate or above. Personal Job-Related Skills: Leadership and management abilities. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Familiarity with operation of emergency medical vehicles and equipment. Ability to adhere to hospital, local and State guidelines in delivery of emergency care. Licensure, Registry or Certification: Current certification by the Texas Department of State Health Services as an EMT-Paramedic/Licensed Paramedic; current Texas driver's license. Experience: Must have at least two (2) years' experience working in an emergency medical environment; and prior management experience is preferred. Operation of Emergency Medical Services: 1. Directs and services subordinates' performance of duties. 2. Makes recommendations for hiring, promotions, salary adjustments and disciplinary actions in accordance with salary and personnel policies. 3. Evaluates individual employee performance. 4. Maintains adequate staffing levels and scheduling. 5. Collects information and assists as required in processing claims for patients. Other Significant Requirements: 1. Maintains HIPAA as required and all other confidentiality while working with confidential matters on a daily basis. 2. Follows safety guidelines and policies for the hospital and ambulance service. Duties of the position require intermittent walking, sitting and standing. Bending, stooping and reaching is required. The lifting, pushing, pulling and carrying of patients with the use of equipment is also required. Some circumstances require the ability to withstand heights, prolonged distances of travel, stress and hostile environments.
