Newington Pediatrics has an immediate opening for anexperienced RN who possess excellent communication skills. The Nurse Lead will be responsible forscheduling the nurse team and for order vaccines as needed. The ability to be able to work extra hours above their normal schedule and who can multitask in a fast paced environmentis required. The position is full time with some weekend coverage and islocated in our Newington location.

This is a lead role working with a great team with potential for greater growth.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Create and managethe nurse team schedule
  • Order vaccinesas needed
  • Serve asliaison between patients, staff and providers
  • Support thecare team and its patients by providing and documenting nursing care while followingestablished standards and practices
  • Provide patientcare and education
  • Assist in locating and coordinating services from otherproviders and resources
  • Document all patientinteractions and other clinical activities accurately and in a timely manner inthe electronic health record (EHR)
  • Demonstraterespect for patients and ProHealth staff by presenting a friendly, courteousmanner at all times and maintaining patient confidentiality
  • Provideattention to patients in a manner that builds confidence, trust and loyalty
  • Act as a memberof the care team, including preparing patients to be seen by collecting andrecording(as applicable): height and weight, temperature, blood pressure, headcircumference, current medications, chief complaint and history
  • Triage patientsaccording to approved protocols and consistent with ProHealths appointment and scheduling guidelines. Answer and document patient phone calls; take completemessages and route to providers as needed using the EHR
  • Provide anddocument patient care such as giving injections and performing preventivescreenings
  • Educatepatients regarding their illness or injury and provide instruction regardingself-management of their condition
  • Carry outstanding orders (i.e., authorizing prescription refills and ordering tests)consistent with ProHealths policies and procedures
  • Schedule tests,treatments and follow up visits on behalf of patients. Assist patients with identifyingsuitable outside resources for disease management and other services; referpatients when appropriate
  • As appropriate,conduct outreach to patients in need of appointments or other services, tocommunicate test results and other information, and to follow up afterappointments to be sure patients are following their plan of care
  • Monitor task list in order to respond to tasks in a timelymanner, follow up on overdue orders and monitor status of critical referrals
  • Order supplies and vaccines and maintain appropriaterecords. Prepare and maintain equipment including sterilization
  • Maintain knowledge of current coding, OSHA and CLIAregulations and ProHealth policies
  • Assist care team to assure smooth office operation anddelivery of excellent service through teamwork
  • Perform other duties as assigned
