This regional position is a key specification driver establishing, maintaining and growing our architectural specification share for PPG Paints through our commercial paint products and color tools. This position is a system approach to non-traditional selling with strong relationship building skills requiring on-site recommendations, guidance and project meetings with owners, architects, interior designers, product specifiers, general contractors and key corporate accounts.

Key Responsibilities:

* The outward title of Construction Document Manager addresses General Contractor and Construction Manager needs to maintain construction documents known as specifications and color schedules or also known as finish schedules, to paint and maintain new and existing commercial buildings and monumental projects.

* The focus is primarily new construction but will include existing building renovations as a mix.

* Project tracking and planning, communicating plan, allocating tasks and setting milestones is key.

* This position will call on those General Contractors and Construction Managers who influence specifications for commercial businesses, building/office space, retail, hotels, resorts etc.

* We are seeking a special talent bridging both technical and creative skills. Successful candidates will be regionally based in major PPG Paints Specification Markets (list on request) and work remotely with regular General Contractors, Construction Managers and owners as needed.

* This role requires consistent travel within the territory and overnight of two nights per week average to ensure long sales cycles are converted in sales.

* The success of this position will rely on self-driven initiative, navigating ambiguity, and an independent personality.

A day in the life:

Build and develop relationships with General Contractors/Construction Managers to determine if there is a relationship with PPG. Once relationship is determined, further presentations will be required to maintain the project specification as Basis of Design, As/Or Equal or simply listed as an approved manufacturer. This role will address both product systems on the technical side and the color schedules on the design side, and must possess the higher-level understanding of complexity and competency of both. Role is expected to hold technical paint system specification and color schemes prepared by interior designers.

Experience and Education Requirements:

* Minimum of 5 years of experience in outside sales with a proven track record of success; prior sales experience is a must as this is a leadership role converting specification opportunities to revenue.

* Construction Management Degree and/or equivalent experience working with construction document packages.

* Valid Driver's License

Functional & Technical Skills:

* Communication skills must embody customer centric communication in person, virtual and verbal.

* Strong presentation skills and competency in front of various audiences.

* Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint, Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop, and web based applications (Construct Connect, BSD, AVITRU, BIM/REVIT).

* Excellent organizational and project management/tracking skills.

* Preference is given to subject matter experts in AIA MasterFormat and CSI/CDC Three Part Format, IIDA or ASID.

* A member of industry associations/current General Contractor or Construction Manager contacts.

* Must understand the relationship between Owner/Architect-Designer/General Contractor/Painter.
