The Sr. Director of Fundraising is responsible for the institute or foundation philanthropic objectives and strategies to build towards 8+ figure annual goal and/or as defined by management; identifying/developing relationships with foundations, corporations, and other institute funders/prospects with capacity for transformational gifts of $1M+; manage an active portfolio of at least 40-60 institute funders/prospects; and maintain an active awareness of funders in the prospect pool in various stages of identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship. This position is considered a lead frontline fundraiser responsible for soliciting principal, major gifts, and/or high-level grants and serves as liaison to physicians, hospital administrators and Institute leadership, and other stakeholders. He/she will design and implement funding strategies that are in alignment with priorities identified by the SVP/Executive Director of the Foundation, the Board of Trustees of Rady Childrens Hospital Foundation, and the various Institutes administrative leadership. Fundable programs and projects include, but are not limited to, centers within the Institute, endowments, chairs, fellowships, programs and capital needs. Works closely with the Foundation Executive Director, Deputy Executive Director, Foundation Board of Trustees, President & CEO, RCHSD/Institute leaders and physicians, and his/her supervisor to pursue and identify potential funders (local, regional, national) that include the development of proposals, stewardship, events and other activities related to fundraising. Maintains an active awareness of goals and direction of the development program as a whole. Meets or exceeds individual and department performance standards for visits, solicitations and gifts/pledges realized, as assigned by management. Creates and executes special projects as assigned by the SVP/Executive Director and/or supervisor. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree in area of study in a field related to the position 7 years of experience CA Driver’s License Proof of Auto Insurance Experience in a fundraising setting focused on accountability and metrics Experience with principal/major/corporate and/or foundation gift solicitation Detail-oriented and team player Works efficiently under pressure; meets deadlines; demonstrates strategic thinking and good decision-making, as well as an entrepreneurial spirit Poised, articulate and possesses strong writing skills Ability to travel and work evenings and weekends as needed PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s Degree in area of study in a field related to the position 10+ years of experience Knowledge around Blackbaud non-profit applications
