Saint-Gobain Research North America is looking for a driven, talented, and creative researcher to join the Films and Fabrics team. The Films and Fabrics business develops a wide range of high-performance films and fabrics designed for use in extreme conditions and highly-demanding applications. We are looking for a candidate with careful attention to detail and exceptional organization, communication, versatility, and technical problem solving skills. The role will focus on new product development, technology transfer and scale-up, and product and process improvement. The candidate will perform hands-on experimentation and testing and provide crucial support for manufacturing processes.
The candidate will conduct research in multiple technical disciplines related to high-performance materials. Under the direction of the team leader, the candidate will design and run experiments, produce lab-scale samples, operate pilot equipment, perform manufacturing trials, and analyze experimental data. The candidate will also be expected to support projects led by other team members. The candidate must be comfortable working in a manufacturing environment.

Must be willing to travel in the US (up to 35%) for customer visits, plant support, and production trials.
BS Degree with a minimum of 3 years experience, or an entry level candidate with a MS degree in Polymer Engineering, Material Science, Mechanical Engineering, or other related disciplines
3+ years hands-on experience with manufacturing processes/equipment in an industrial or research setting.
Excellent oral and written communication skills are necessary to communicate with the plant, with customers, and to report progress on projects.
The successful candidate should be able to solve technical problems by combining literature search results, scientific knowledge, and hands-on experiments.
Valid driver s license to access remote plant locations.
