Loan Accounting Associate
In this position, you will perform the month-end close process (i.e., journal entries, reconciliations, etc.) in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (\"GAAP\").
* Assists in the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close process by preparing journal entries and general ledger reconciliations. * Prepares journal entries to record business & financial transactions in accordance with GAAP and Company policy. * Performs general ledger reconciliations for balance sheet accounts to ensure that transactions and balances are recorded accurately, and are in accordance with GAAP and Company policy. Research and resolve any issues identified. * Reviews and analyzes monthly financial statements for the Bank's REIT and evaluates operating results for compliance. * Assists with quarterly financial reporting and preparing loan-related schedules included in the quarterly regulatory reports (i.e. Call Report, 10-Q, 10-K, etc.). Assists in preparing the footnotes and tables for related reports. * Prepares supplemental financial reports, information, tables, and documentation as required for reporting to Senior Management and the Board of Directors. * Coordinates with various departments (e.g., Credit, IT, Legal, Operations and Treasury) to ensure that segment business transactions are processed and recorded in a proper and timely manner. * Assists in special projects (i.e. variance analysis) and performs ad-hoc problem-solving; reports appropriate concerns to departmental management. * Assists in audit requests. * Supports Loan Accounting Manager and performs related duties as assigned. * This position has access to general ledger and financial records. Does not have cash or wire transfer access.
* Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance/Economics or equivalent combination of education and experience * Minimum 1 year experience in accounting, with a solid understanding of basic accounting concepts, required. * Strong Analytical and problem-solving skills required. * Understanding of loan accounting preferred. * Prior banking industry experience a plus. * Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (i.e., VLookups, Pivot Tables).
