Our Sr. Systems Engineer will provide technical and thought leadership for all elements of the banks globally distributed virtualization environment and associated technologies focusing on VMware. We are seeking someone who is confident in assuming a position of seniority in supporting strategic initiatives and projects based on virtualization and the Windows platform.
Maintenance of existing systems, development of standards and practices, system architecture, engineering, design, implementation of new products, support, and development of junior staff.
Support, Configure, Administer, and Monitor enterprise wide virtual infrastructure.
Design and implement virtualization technologies including hardware and supporting services.
Microsoft Windows Server - support, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
R&D architect, engineer and innovate.
Bachelors degree or equivalent in Computer Science or similar field.
7+ years of experience working in a support/engineering role within a high paced IT environment, preferably within a financial institution.
5+ years VMware engineering (certification(s) are a plus).
5+ years Microsoft Windows engineering
Extensive knowledge of VMware solutions; vSphere, vCenter (Windows, VCSA), Update Manager, Site Recovery Manager, vRealize Operations Manager, vRealize Automation Manager, NSX, Log Insight, vSAN.
Design, development, deployment and support of enterprise scale systems.
Expert level in troubleshooting and support of ESXi, virtual machines, Guest OS, network and storage.
Extensive knowledge of Converged Infrastructure - DellEMC VBlock, VxBlock, Cisco UCS.
Extensive knowledge of Hyper-Converged Infrastructure - DellEMC VxRail, vSAN Ready Node, Nutanix.
Experience with design, implementation and support in a globally dispersed enterprise.
Excellent experience in Microsoft Windows Server (2008, 2012, 2016, +) platform, Installation, configuration, performance, debugging, understanding of core Operating System constructs such as memory, kernel, processor, network and storage IO.
Excellent experience in Microsoft technologies: Active Directory, Group Policy, DFS, Clustering, Web Services(IIS), File and Print Services, DNS, DCHP.
Excellent experience in scripting: PowerShell / PowerCLI, with ability to Automate repeatable processes and reports.
Excellent experience in backup solutions for virtualized environments: TSM, TSM/VE, Spectrum Protect, Rubrik and NetBackup.
Experience with Fiber Channel, iSCSI, NFS, SMB protocols.
Experience with NetApp Clustered Data ONTAP.
Experience with capacity planning, configuration management and forecasting growth.
Project Management experience.
Strong troubleshooting skills, triage and root cause analysis.
Develop and document process and procedures; runbooks, internal KB articles, technical diagrams.
Execute standard operating procedures to implement changes to production and non-production environments.
Engineer, deploy, and innovate solutions for the enterprise while maintaining existing technologies.
Act as a catalyst for change, drive innocation, and posess a creative and analytical style.
Strong customer service skills to deliver quality results in a demanding environment.
Self-Motivator with the ability to work independently and/or as part of a team.
Manage relationships with partners, vendors and resellers.
Interact extensively with all levels of business, management, and IT in a professional and confident manner.
Experience in Linux OSes: RHEL, SUSE, CentOS
Experience in other Hypervisors: Hyper-V
Experience in Cloud technologies: VMware Cloud, AWS, Azure, IaaS, PaaS
Experience with Containers: Docker, Kubernetes
Experience in EMC storage arrays: EMC VMAX, VNX / VNXe, Unity, XtremeIO
