The S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University is seeking an individual to teach COM 400- ST: Social Platforms, Processes and Perspectives, Tuesdays 6:00-9:00PM during the Fall 2019 semester at our NYC campus (3 credits).
Course Description: This three-credit course highlights how media companies are using social media to engage their followers. Students will hear from the people who work at each social platform and learn their best practices, so that they can become more well-versed in the social sphere, getting insights from key leaders on how to effectively grow a brand's reach.
Students are very familiar with social media from a personal perspective, but manning a professional social handle is very different-there's a lot more responsibility to be grammatically correct and accurate. Students will learn how to use social platforms in a corporate setting, from the people who do it every day, and will gain experience executing live social events for a brand rather than a personal account.
Some topics covered include: How to Make Content Go Viral, Social Media and Story Telling, How to be a Social Media Editor, Developing a Social Strategy/Promo Plan, The Keys to Social Messaging, the Legal Implications of Social Media and more.
