If you can envision joining a team where you will have the opportunity to provide mission driven results; then we are looking for you!What Youll Get to Do!The Regulatory Compliance Analysts will provide support to the USDAs National Organic Program (NOP) and analyze complaint cases to determine and identify alleged violations of Organic Foods Production Act and USDA organic regulations. The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of investigative techniques, strong communication, critical thinking and organizational skills along with the ability to interpret regulations.Key functions you will perform!Review incoming complaint cases to identify the alleged violation. If there is sufficient evidence to conduct an investigation, develop an appropriate investigative plan to collect relevant evidence and communicate with affected parties in a timely fashionThrough communication with the subject (person or business) of the complaint, assess the subjects level of understanding of federal organic rules and adjust communications accordinglyResolve any problems or questions regarding interpretations of the organic regulations through communication with the contracted project managerUse publicly-available information, subscription-based databases, and other research tools to obtain business information (such as identifying owners and responsibly connected parties) needed to identify potential recipients for communication and correspondence and marketing information (such as websites or photographs of labels) needed to assess allegationsMemorialize all communication via phone and email through standardized logs (electronic)Develop correspondence and contact complainants and subjects of complaints to gather evidence, assess understanding and inform people of the regulations in a way that can be understood, and to determine next stepsWrite and compile investigative reports and supporting files for review and approval by the NOP. Examples include: Report of Investigation, Notice of Warning, Cease and Desist Notice, Closure Letters, Request for Investigation, post-communication follow-up emails, and ExhibitsUse NOPs compliance and enforcement database to log case results and upload items for review and for the final recordFor complex investigations requiring on-site visits, develop an investigative plan and document activities through: visual documentation such as photographs, conversation records, signed statements, copies of documents, labels, or physical samples of product taken for laboratory testing, which must include chain of custody documentationWhat you will need to have: Senior Level:Familiarity with the organic food industry and farm-to-market supply chain integrityKnowledge of applicable Federal regulations and laws surrounding the organic industryDemonstrated written, communication and interpersonal skillsDemonstrated experience in complex analytical research and investigative techniques and producing finished reports based on the results of detailed examination and analysisFour (4) + years of field-related work experienceAbility to organize data, interpret patterns and trends, prepare and organize investigative research with detail to background informationAbility to work with and operate government-provided analytical systems and toolsAbility to work with minimal to no supervision and produce quality work to meet deadlinesBachelors Degree or higher preferredJunior level:Recent college graduates with degree in organic agriculture, supply chain management/auditing, etc.Familiarity with the organic food industry and farm-to-market supply chain integrityDemonstrated written, communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to organize data, interpret patterns and trends, prepare and organize investigative research with detail to background informationAbility to work with and operate government-provided analytical systems and toolsAbility to work with minimal to no supervision and produce quality work to meet deadlinesClearance:Applicants selected will be subject to a Government background investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.Security Requirements:U.S. CitizenshipAbility to obtain/maintain a Security ClearanceFavorable credit checkThese requirements are thoroughly reviewed during the employment screening process.
