Summary

The Data Operations Engineer plays the key role in the organization of monitoring and control of scheduled processes that perform data ingestion and migration through the Hadoop zones and Teradata environments plus the scheduled delivery of data internally and externally to the company. They are responsible for addressing the stability, performance, security compliance of the production environments by working closely with the external vendors, and the internal Data Integration, Data Platform, Data Management (DBAs), IT Security, and IT infrastructure teams. They are the gate keepers of the Data Hub ecosystem.

Levels II, III, IV of this position requires a person who has a good mix of experience with day-to-day technical operations process, 24/7 support team coordination and project delivery experience.

Essential Responsibilities/Accountabilities

Level I

* Manages the day to day operations of a 24/7 warehouse application environment including production support and project related activities.

* Analyzes and triages production support issues based on severity, assigns resources to resolve and manage the communication process with key support areas.

* Analyzes, identifies and implements data warehouse technical improvements to ensure business users receive appropriate levels of service and performance.

* Interfaces with IT Informatica Administration and DBAs for coordination and planning in support of project and monthly release activities, and for code package migrations of ETL code, UNIX scripts and data files.

* Participates in peer reviews and on project teams to ensure environment needs and impacts are identified as they relate to performance and maintainability.

* Executes scripting and migrations.

* Maintains high regard for member privacy in accordance with the corporate privacy policies and procedures.

* Regular and reliable attendance is expected and required.

Level II - performs duties same as Level I, plus:

* Increased individual responsibilities in support of the day to day operations of a 24/7 warehouse application environment.

* Responsible for Secure File Transfer processes with our external vendors.

* Works closely with business analysts, solution architects and project managers to define operational requirements, resource impacts, estimates, dependencies and project plans.

* Develops and improves standards and processes as required to increase the efficiency of requirements, design, development, testing, load, and deployment activities.

* Creates, maintains and publishes environment configuration process and technical documentation.

* Works closely with Information Management teams to educate on process and submitting requests for new databases, schemas, migrations, etc.

* Performs analysis for capacity planning and manages storage inventory.

* Analyzes audit, balance, and control procedures to monitor security and efficiency of the data warehouse environment.

Level III ? performs duties same as Level II, plus:

* Increased individual responsibilities in support of the day to day operations of a 24/7 warehouse environment.

* Participates in vendor management activities.

* Assists in mentoring and training Level I & II staff to gain experience and expand technical skill set.

* Actively participates in and performs root cause analysis and problem resolution of intermediate level technical issues.

Level IV ? performs duties same as Level III, plus:

* Assumes lead role in support of day to day operations of a 24/7 warehouse environment, including problem identification.

* Leads vendor management activities.

* Facilitates and leads root cause analysis and problem resolution of complex technical issues.

* Mentors and trains Level I, II, & III staff.

* Determines and recommends solutions and improvements.

Minimum Qualifications

NOTE:

Level I

* B.S or equivalent degree in IT or Computer Science related field.

* 0 - 3 years related work experience.

* College course work in ETL programming, Unix scripting (Perl, Shell), and version control software, Hadoop, multiple parallel database processing a plus.

* Familiarity with large-scale Data Warehouse concepts.

* Knowledge or course work in database utilities (e.g., TOAD, AQT).

* Familiarity with client/server job scheduling software knowledge.

* Experience with coordination of (Informatica, Oracle) and executing (Unix) migrations in Development, Test and Production environments.

* Knowledge of environment configuration and migration activities.

* Familiarity with root cause analysis and problem resolution.

* Strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to perform under pressure, attention to detail and appreciation for rigorous release management process is important.

Level II

* Minimum of 3 years related work experience.

* Minimum of 2 years' experience in ETL programming, Unix scripting (Perl, Shell), and version control software, Hadoop, multiple parallel database processing, large-scale Oracle Data Warehouse and/or Teradata MPP platform and database utilities (e.g., TOAD, AQT).

* Minimum of 2 years' experience in coordinating (Informatica, Oracle) and executing (Unix) migrations in Development, Test and Production environments.

* Minimum of 2 years' experience in environment configuration and migration activities.

* 1 year experience with Hadoop platform and client/server job scheduling software knowledge.

* 1 year experience in Vendor relationships.

* Demonstrated experience in root cause analysis and problem resolution.

* Must be able to perform duties of the Data Warehouse ETL Programmer whenever the department deems necessary.

* Strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to perform under pressure, attention to detail and appreciation for rigorous release management process is important.

Level III

* Minimum of 5 years related work experience

* Minimum of 3 years' experience in ETL programming, Unix scripting (Perl, Shell), and version control software, Hadoop, multiple parallel database processing, large-scale Oracle Data Warehouse and/or Teradata MPP platform and database utilities (e.g., TOAD, AQT).

* Minimum of 3 years' experience in coordinating (Informatica, Oracle) and executing (Unix) migrations in Development, Test and Production environments.

* Minimum of 3 years' experience in environment configuration and migration activities.

* 2 years' experience with Hadoop platform and Vendor relationships.

* 1 year client/server job scheduling software knowledge.

* Must be able to perform duties of the Data Warehouse ETL Programmer, whenever the department deems necessary.

* Strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to perform under pressure, attention to detail and appreciation for rigorous release management process is important.

Level IV

* Minimum of 8 years related work experience.

* Minimum of 5 years' experience in ETL programming, Unix scripting (Perl, Shell), and version control software, Hadoop, multiple parallel database processing, large-scale Oracle Data Warehouse, and database utilities (e.g., TOAD, AQT).

* Minimum of 5 years' experience in coordinating (Informatica, Oracle) and executing (Unix) migrations in Development, Test and Production environments.

* Minimum of 5 years' experience in environment configuration and migration activities.

* 3 years' experience in Vendor relationship.

* 2 years client/server job scheduling software knowledge.

* Must be able to perform duties of the Data Warehouse ETL Programmer, whenever the department deems necessary.

* Strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to perform under pressure, attention to detail and appreciation for rigorous release management process is important.

Physical Requirements
