Job Summary

The main responsibility of the food runner is to deliver food to guests in a friendly, professional and knowledgeable manner. They are also expected to help expedite food at times when there is no Chef in front of the line.

Essential Duties

  • Have an understanding of all menu items and how each item is properly served and/or packaged
  • Prepare runner station at the pass including preparation of condiments, stocking of dishes, flatware and towels
  • Deliver food to guests and describe each dish
  • Remove used tableware between courses and replace
  • Communicate fire times to chefs and sous chefs
  • Respond appropriately to guest requests
  • Communicate 88d items to serving staff
  • Assist in polishing and restocking tableware, especially with large parties and during peak periods
  • Be available to fill in as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the restaurant as directed by the restaurant manager
  • Maintain a basic understanding of the proper steps of service required of all FOH service positions
  • Demonstrate a warm and welcoming demeanor when interacting with guests and coworkers
  • Qualifications

  • Previous restaurant experience preferred
  • Strong communication and listening skills
  • Pleasant, polite manner, and a neat and clean appearance
  • Self-motivated and interested in taking on additional roles and responsibilities
  • Be able to lift, reach, bend and stoop
  • Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours)
