Corporate Systems, a group within Information Systems & Technology division of Verisk Analytics, is seeking a highly motivated candidate to join as a Business Systems Analyst to focus on Business Process Management. This role requires engagement with senior executive, technical SME, business customers, PMO and vendor partners to help evangelize and execute an organizational business process transformation strategy and implementation plan over aggressive timelines. The Business Systems Analyst is a subject matter expert on the topics of business process design, analysis, and transformation. The BSA role leads the activities that will assist our business partners in identifying their business problems, defining the problem, and quantifying the value side of the return-on-investment question. This information can then be used to prioritize the work based on that value. Job Description Leverage prior experience and skills to apply technical and business knowledge to lead groups through problem discovery, quantifying business problems, process mapping and organizing information. Lead process innovation and standardization through the programs and operational initiatives Lead, illicit and document requirements, as-is processes and design and develop to-be processes. Determines operational objectives by studying business functions; gathering information; evaluating output requirements and formats. Maintain detailed knowledge of metrics and roadmaps to provide executive level status on key initiatives/programs in addition to day-to-day operations. Compile objectives for improving and streamlining procedures Recommend controls and implement improved procedures. Maintain system protocols by writing and updating policies and procedures. Provide references for users by writing and maintaining user documentation. Prepares reports and metrics by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends. Research and benchmark state-of-the-art practices and advise on best practices Develop standardized business and executive appropriate presentation materials Design, develop and maintain technical documents, business requirements, functional and technical specs, testing plan, change management and release docs, etc. Plan and implement supportive business solutions. Present key information and status updates to various stakeholders. Estimate and establish costs of upgrades and improvements. Effectively lead research, requirements, analysis, design and deployment of a business process improvement independently or with a cross functional team. Engage and influence distributed teams and provide hands-on guidenace to move the needle on operational innovation. Effectively communicate system and process solution expectations to internal customers, team members and other stakeholders. Define, collect, track and report metrics and ensure high quality of reported data. Effectively define and manage project scope, schedule, quality, deliverables and post-project measurements. Work with senior management and internal customers to plan and prioritize projects and resource allocation. Lead annual projects planning process working closely with IT peers, business stakeholders and PMO Monitor Operations progress by tracking activity; resolving problems; publishing progress reports; recommending actions. Proactively communicate status, issues and escalations to senior management and stakeholders. Work on other special projects and duties as assigned. Some travel as needed. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in business, computer science, or related field preferred. 5-8 years of previous experience as a Business Systems Analyst or similar role. Ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences. Ability to lead cross functional teams and vendors to drive results. Understanding of business analysis principles, processes, and techniques. Proven experience in functional/business analysis. Ability to develop and prepare use cases, functional specifications, and technical requirements Demonstrated ability to document requirements, solution design, test plans, process flows, configuration, modifications, migration/cutover plans and other business and systems processes. Ability to understand and represent the needs of the end user in a software development environment. Ability to remain agile and adjust priorities based on workload, management directives and customer demands. Ability to quickly adapt to changing work environments and be hands-on as needed. Proven ability to build customer and peer relationships and manage customer needs and expectations. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively to audiences at all levels. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel, Visio). Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently. Self-motivated and self-directed. Strong consultative and advisory skills.
