Windward is seeking a Senior SSL Certificate Engineer to join our team. A qualified candidate is a proven leader who has extensive experience in digital certificatekey management. The candidate will have the ability to lead a team in defining processes and tool enhancements for a Certificate Management system. The candidate must be able to look beyond the immediate assignments and assist their leadership team to create strategic road map for the team and services. The role demands excellent project management skills, great interpersonal skills, and strong written and verbal communication skills. Responsibilities include working closely with other teams to align initiatives with the collective IT strategy to ensure that we meet business goals. Key areas of responsibility Consult with other members of business unit and technical users to identify PKI requirements and develop requirements documentation Contribute to the technical direction on all areas of PKI architecture, strategies, automation and enforce governance standards Provide guidance to key stakeholders on PKI life cycle, processes and procedures Stay informed of browser support standards (distrust of issuers, algorithms, and ciphers) for potential impact to the organization's certificate inventory Process fulfillment requests (Service requestsCatalog tasks) Manages all SSLTLS Certificates associated with the Certificate Authority (CA) Monitor Public (External) and Managed PKI (PrivateInternal) CA SSLTLS Certificates for upcoming expiration dates Monitor all expiry notifications to ensure no issues result from Certificate expiration Revoke SSL Certificates which are no longer being used in both Managed PKI and Public CA portals Interact directly with CA vendors and IT customers for troubleshooting of certificate and key related issues Update and maintain runbook and process guides for requesting and distributing certificates to various applications teams Provide technical guidance moving some of the manual certificate provisioning process to a more automated method possible using other tools such as Venafi, including some scripting experience Qualifications and experience Knowledge of X.509 and general certificate management processes Experience with public key infrastructure (PKI) and experience with certificate life cycle management, such as Venafi Experience with Microsoft Certificate Services Experience with Public Certificate Authority providers Certification and experience in IT operational standards such as ITIL v3 preferred. Ability to gather and convey information to stakeholders Strong analytical, technical writing and verbal communication skills Ability to influence change across a matrix organization and collaborate with business and technology teams to deliver solutions 7 years' experience working in Information Technology 3 years' experience working in Security Understands how the IT group operates and how hisher role meets customer needs and creates value Candidate must have general knowledge regarding cryptographic methodologies and processes within IT organizations General understanding of cryptographic keys, symmetric and asymmetric keys, cryptographic key algorithms and cipher blocks Experience in helping create new encryption enterprise solutions for current or upcoming IT Projects Ability to work in a fast-paced environment Location Vienna, VA Education Bachelorrsquos degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field or equivalent experience combination of education and experience.
