Our Client has recently joined the Ellen McArthur Foundation group of CE100 companies. These companies have agreed to drive sustainable packaging and will need approximately 8-10 packaging professionals for 1-3 years to assist them with this project. Some people will be needed full time and others will be able to work part time as needed in a specific area. They have agreed to the following: • By the end of 2025, 75-100% of brands’ packaging will be recyclable, refillable, reusable, recycled or recoverable; in achieving this goal, the Company will increase the amount of post-consumer recycled material in packaging by up to 50% • Their ambition is to use responsibly sourced paper products whenever possible with a goal to have 100% of its forest-based fibre cartons FSC certified by 2025 • To achieve these goals, packaging designers and engineers are re-engineering the packaging portfolio, including low-impact sourcing, bio-sourcing, material substitution, weight elimination and integration of recycled content To reach these goals, they will need to change a large amount of their packaging. Much of this work will focus on shifting to different materials, adding recycled content, etc. Also, interfacing with the brands to help them understand options, pros and cons, etc as well as demonstrating that their standards can be met with these materials. Some of the work will be challenging and require working with suppliers to invent solutions or shift to different packaging formats. The team estimates that the work will require 8-10 people for 1-3 years. The work will be half to full time. Their desire is that the majority (or all) of the resources can be located near NYC so that they can work in person on a regular basis or that the Expert be willing to travel and work in NY. The plan is to move brand by brand to do the work. There will be a senior person from the company overseeing the work. Requirements: Core packaging technologies are in one or more of the following areas: Jars, bottles, caps, closures, tubes, cartons. Secondary focus films/pouches, thermoforms, decoration Experts that have luxury packaging expertise would be a plus.
